Role Overview
The Director of Finance will be a strategic leader responsible for ChargerHelp’s financial planning, management, and operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Finance will oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This individual will work cross-functionally to align financial processes with business goals, establish scalable financial systems, and support key initiatives as we navigate our next growth phase. This role will also be critical in preparing for and executing a successful Series B fundraising round.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to navigate ambiguity and provide clarity, a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, and someone with excellent communication and collaboration skills. This candidate will also have the ability to present financial data to both technical and non-technical audiences and be passionate about sustainability and ChargerHelp’s mission to advance EV infrastructure.
Key Outcomes and Responsibilities
Strategic financial leadership in ChargerHelp’s financial strategy
Objective: Provide strategic financial leadership to guide ChargerHelp’s growth and ensure financial stability.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute ChargerHelp’s financial strategy.
Lead financial modeling and analysis to support key business decisions, including Series B preparation and fundraising efforts.
Provide actionable insights on revenue growth, cost optimization, and cash flow management.
Accounting & compliance oversight to meet all regulatory requirements
Objective: Provide robust accounting and compliance oversight by ensuring accurate financial reporting in alignment with GAAP.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the company’s accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes and work with external auditors on annual audits.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and all reporting requirements.
Financial Planning & Analysis for companies short term and long term goals
Objective: Drive informed decision-making and support strategic business growth by developing and managing budgets.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support short- and long-term business planning.
Monitor financial performance and KPIs, presenting insights and recommendations to the leadership team.
Conduct scenario analyses to assess risks and opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
Systems & Process Optimization for ChargerHelp!’s financial tools and systems
Objective: To enhance operational efficiency and scalability by evaluating, and implementing financial systems, tools, and processes.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and implement financial systems, tools, and processes to support growth and scalability.
Automate workflows for expense management, accounts receivable/payable, and cash flow tracking.
Establish robust internal controls and financial policies to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
Capital Management & Fundraising Support for company growth
Objective: Ensure financial stability and growth by effectively managing cash flow.
Responsibilities:
Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions to ensure financial stability.
Support investor relations by preparing financial materials, models, and data for Series B fundraising.
Collaborate with external advisors and stakeholders to ensure successful capital-raising initiatives.
Job requirements
Skills and Qualifications
CPA or CFA designation preferred; MBA or advanced degree in Finance/Accounting is a plus.
7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in high-growth startups or venture-backed companies.
Strong expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic planning.
Deep understanding of GAAP and compliance standards.
Experience with financial systems implementation and scaling financial operations.
Demonstrated success in preparing for and supporting venture capital fundraising rounds.
